Book NameKarate-Do My Way of Life

AuthorGichin Funakoshi
ReviewThis is an amazing book about the life of Funakoshi Sensai. It tells many stories of his life, some good some bad, but all insightfull and insperational.
I'd reckomend this book for anyone wanting to know more about the late master and his way of life. I would consider buying this as a gift for a fellow karate-ka as it also fairly cheap, under £10.
An exceptional read.

Book NameKanazawa, 10th Dan Recollections of a Living Karate Legend The Early Years (1931-1964)

AuthorDr. Clive Layton
ReviewThis book is the tales of the great Master, Kanazawa Sensei. It tells storys, often humerous, sometime sad, but always inspirational, about Kanazawa's early life. You learn how the master first got into karate, how he became scared of dogs and also how simple manners can remove a stubborn cow from your path.
This book is an exceptional read, and I reacomend that anyone who happens to stumple over it should by it immediatly. I amn't certain of the price, yet I bought mine from the assosiation for £20 as it was a gift from Dr. Layton to Sensei Nursey and I was told the book is quite rare.
A great book. 9/10

Book NameThe Beginner's Guide to Shotokan Karate Beginner To Black Belt

AuthorJohn van Weenen
ReviewFirst off I would like to say this is one of the, if not the, most successful Shotokan books around, and it has therefore been updated and re-published. I own the 14th (2002) reprint of it which as far as I know is the latest. Anyway...
The book on a whole is incredible good and, apart from the ESKA syllabus books, is the first book I would recommend to anyone under brown belt. In fact it is so good, even black belts should own it.
It contains valuable information on kata, kumite and kihon. It contains Kata up to Heian Godan, and contains all kumite, but (this being the only downside to the book) some of the kihon ippion kumite does vary from what we at ESKA do. I am not certain about the Jiyu Ippon Kumite.
It also contains Info on self defence and how to get yourself out of those tight situations.
I'd recomend this book to anyone, as I've said before this book is the best value for money, and an incredable good read. In fact what are you still doing reading this review, you should on amazon buying it or at least thumbling to get your shoes on so you can buy it at your local book store!
In fact I shall save you the trouble of tracking the http and get it for you.
