| 13/05/2006 | Pugel sticks introduced at Hitchin Karate |
| | | Our Sensei's having seen the way that our junior members enjoyed the Kumite last week have decided to introduce the pugel stick, which looks like a huge cotton bud. (anyone who has seen the show 'Gladiators' will know what I'm on about). On Saturday members of the club got the opportunity to lay into their fellow students with these hugely fun pieces of equipment. The only question now is whether we now need to call ourselves the Hitchin Pugel Stick Club. |

| 04/12/2005 | Kumite Squad |
| | The 3rd ESKA Kumite course was held on Sunday 4th December 2005 at the Sandy club Dojo. Sensei's Richard Scoot and Vicky Byford ran the course which started with a variety of combinations to bring you in close to your opponent and score. The most interesting news of the day was that Sensei Scoot was planning to put a squad in for Kumite competition at the Amateur Martial Arts International Open Karate Championships on the 25th and 26th of February. There was a lot of interest in this and two further training courses are planned for January and February as preparation for the competition. |
